1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS
This once mild-mannered Monte Carlo SS now contains a slew of automotive go-fast parts. All the while keeping an unassuming allure about it with the exception of a reverse scooped cowl hood and snappy Weld wheels. Most passersby would never think this G-body notchback would be ready to hand out ass whoopins galore. Prepare yourself to be both startled and pleasantly surprised.
Paint code WA8535, Silver Metallic in layman\'s terms, adorns the exterior of this car, and it has few faults to this respray. Some spotins, evidence of body work and a few rust bubbles are seen down low throughout the body. This two-door model features the standard issue notchback style rear window, rear deck lid spoiler, and a blacked-out grille and headlight bezels with high output headlights covered by tinted lenses with silver bowtiesproudly leading the way. SS Monte Carlo decals in black adorn the doors and blacked out window trim surrounds all of the glass. Noted on all 4 corners are the highly polished Weld DragLite wheels in 15-inch format with staggered width blackwall rubber wrapping them. A fiberglass cowl hood has been installed and is the only clue as to what lurks beneath it.
Faded and color changed, (possibly from upholstery dye fading), tuck and roll inserts with vinyl bolsters with tears to the driver\'s seat outer bolsters make up the buckets in front. Slightly faded cloth covers the rear bench. The color loss only appears on the front buckets, with the rear bench remaining color-fast but overall the interior is clean. The instrument panel is original and very clean. The center console races between the buckets and houses the B&M shift lever which sits within as well as an armrest/glovebox and small front storage cubby. Gray carpet is on the floors and appears in good condition and the headliner is gray and shows with some light soiling.
A 327ci V8, (not original to this car), is inserted in the engine bay. It has a gear drive fitted within and a single 4-barrel Edelbrock carburetor is perched atop an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold. Bolted to the back of the mill is a 200R4 4-speed automatic transmission that sends power rearward to a 10 bolt 3.73 geared conventional rear axle.
Black undercoating covers the frame, floors and suspension components with some surface rust showing here and there on untreated components. Power disc brakes on the front and power drums on the rear provide the whooah factor and power steering is noted. Dual exhaust snakes back from the engine and Flowmaster mufflers then exit with straight cut tips at the rear of the car. Independent coil sprung front suspension is on along with a 4-link coil sprung suspension on the rear providing a smooth ride.
A twist of the key and the 327 cuber instantly fired to life. My partner in crime and crack decoder was in the midst of a post lunchtime food coma so I took the wheel to show off my driving prowess. I was met with unlimited acceleration, firm crisp shifting from the 4-speed automatic and great braking. All functions were operational at the time of my drive save for the heater blower not operating and the driver\'s door popping open whilst I was making a right hand turn. Oh, and lest I forget, when I got heavy with my boot, spinning the tires was done with ease.
An unassuming wolf in sheep\'s clothing with the only give aways being the cowl scooped hood and racy wheels. Overall a nice exterior, slightly interior faded, and different engine installed. Ialmost pulled the trigger on this one myself, but I\'m going to leave it for you as both my license and marriage would be suspended if it came to my home.
