Highly desirable RS-SS with matching #s, great factory color and air conditioning. Built new in California and was purchased March of this year out of California. Nut and bolt restored to factory condition by a professional shop, they said it was a clean car to start with.
EXTERIOR: Highly desirable code 51-51: Daytona yellow upper and lower. Show quality fit and finish. It is laser straight, no bubbles or damage. The paint is smooth like yellow glass. The jambs are slick, new sill plates. The very desirable R/S option includes a different front end that has split bumpers, extended grill and round marker lights. It also includes body color on the door handles, trim on the hood edge and rain gutters. It also has front and rear spoilers. The chrome bumpers and emblems, lenses, windshield are replaced. The weatherstrips and window seals were replaced. The wheels are correctly restored like new and have reproduction
Wide Oval tires.
INTERIOR: I'm sitting in the car now and as I look around it is practically brand new. In front of me is a mint condition SS steering wheel on a tilt column, a full set of factory gauges and tachometer and R/S rosewood trim. The dash pad fits really well, it has the original AM radio. Vents, knobs and heater controls are excellent. The original console is in real nice shape. The upholstery has been redone, new door panels. All the plastic trim is excellent. Headliner is mint, fits tight as a drum. Visors, mirror and dome light look new. Complete set of original GM seat belts. The interior lights work.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Detailed to factory specs. The 350-300 hp motor has correct casting codes and dates. The matching vin # and codes are on the stamp pad. Stock manifolds, air cleaner assembly and valve covers. Correct # carb and alternator. Correct distributor. It has reproduction hoses and clamps. The clutch fan, radiator and shroud look new. It has new heater control valve. Reproduction plug wires and heat shields around the plugs. Features include factory air conditioning, power steering and brakes. The booster is cadmium plated, stainless brake lines, a/c compressor is replaced. First thing I thought when I opened the hood is "this looks immaculate" It's not even dusty. The metal surfaces are all smooth semi gloss black. It has hood insullation. The air cleaner assembly is restored and is complete right down to the vacuum lines and heat riser tube. New wiper motor, squirters are hooked. The pollution equipment is hooked up. It is concourse condition.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Excellent, dry metal. The quarter panels look original, I did not see cuts or splices. Very neatly spatter painted. The jamb and under the trunk is smooth, gloss yellow. It has reproduction weatherstrip, decal, trunk mat, tire cover and rear seat insulation. It has a full size spare and complete jack assembly.
UNDERSIDE: Everything was dropped out of the bottom of this car, the body was off the frame. The underbody looks like original, smooth clean metal that was prepped and painted semi gloss black. The front end suspension and steering has been completely rebuilt. The rear suspension also has replaced bushings, springs and shocks. Correct reproduction exhaust system with a transverse muffler and polished tips. The brake system has been completely redone. It has replaced lines, e-brake assembly and disc in front. The fuel system was all replaced- tank, sending unit, straps and lines. The bottom of the motor is spotless, correct starter looks new. The turbo 350 automatic is VIN number matching to this car. The drive shaft was balanced. It has it's original 12 bolt rear end dated to this car. It has been detailed to concourse specs with correct assembly line paint markings and stickers.
I see thousands of collector cars a year, I can't remember the last time I have seen a 1970 RS-SS. This is a rare and desirable car. This one right here is one of the best examples in the country based on condition, originality and features.
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
