1990 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer
The Chevy Blazer was one of Chevy's most popular SUVs, as many loyal Chevy fans will attest to. Before the name Sport Utility Vehicle and its acronym were essentially ubiquitous, Chevy built the 1983 S-10 Blazer to be sportier and more manageable than the competition, the Ford Bronco, and Jeep Wagoneer. Clearly, Chevy was onto something because the Blazer helped usher in the lasting trend of SUVs. In fact, another very popular Chevy SUV, the Tahoe, actually originated as one of the Blazer's first trims. To the disappointment of many of its loyal fans, the full sized Blazer was discontinued after the 1994 model year.
For consignment, a 1990 S-10 Blazer from the bowtie company. This one is from its original owner, was always garaged and sports its correct 4.3L V6. Cue Julie Andrews to swing to the tune of "Climb Every Mountain!".
Our gray example retains its shine and is showing a few dents and dings. Also, some rust bubbling can be noted around the door jambs, and rockers. Tinted glass is all around with gray surrounds. Some chrome trimmings are on which encircle the wheel wells, add bezels to the single head lighting make up some of the grille, and bumpers. Black accenting is also noted with some door trimmings, side view mirrors and a roof rack. On the back is a spoiler on top, and a full-size spare swings out of the way when you need your groover out of the back. 15-inch black steel wheels are wrapped with all terrain 235/75R15's
Behind that tinted glass are saddle zig zag broadcloth door panels which also have two tone tan and butterscotch plastic molded panels. Within the butterscotch, are power lock toggles, window toggles and the actuator. Below is a horizontal panel that has tan carpeting. The original GM dash continues with more use of the butterscotch molded plastic accenting for the dash front surrounds, mixed with neutral gray molded square and rectangle design for the remainder of the dash and instrument cluster. Broadcloth saddle colored buckets with darker tan vinyl bolsters are in front of this dash, and a large center console/storage/cupholder is between the seats. Gold carpeting is flooding the floors including the clean cargo area behind the rear bench broadcloth covered seat. Above a large tan fuzzy broadcloth headliner covers the interior ceiling.
A factory 4.3 Liter V6 sits in an original unrestored engine bay. This has EFI, and a 4-speed automatic 700R4 transmission. 3.42 is the axle designation. The insulating liner under the hood has some insulation missing on it.
Surface rust coats most of the steel on this undercarriage, although it remains structurally sound. Rockers and floor pans are rust free and a new exhaust snakes its way rearward. Power disc brakes are in front, and power drums on the back. Suspension is torsion bar upfront and leaf spring on back.
This truck and it's 4.3 liters fires right up and driving is a pleasure. All comfy on the ergonomic front for the interior, smooth acceleration and nice cornering. I noticed the brakes hang up a bit, and with the dash display the brake light is on. Also, the driver's power window will not close.
A one owner example of the Blazer with a economical 4.3 liter V6 engine. A nicely colored interior top goes with the neutral gray exterior. Let's get to climbin'!
