Stock exterior creates a classic look, while modern features tastefully improve her performance. V8 power and power accessories make her a restored and modified street and show worthy performer. Every nut, bolt and piece of steel was touched while undergoing her reconstruction. Show winner and winner of hearts, she’s simply a classy Texas stunner.

Believed to be an original Oklahoma truck, she started life as a state owned worker. Purchased by our current Owner way, way back in 1988, work continued as she was used to haul landscaping, Texas style. In 2007 the repairs began and as the tasks commenced the list grew. Two years later, she was complete and a show-winner. Located in Garland, TX she has been shown, sought after and famed, recognized by the car community and recognition received with trophies. She indeed has a clear and clean title in our Owner’s name, who incidentally performed most of the hard work creating this stunning Lone Star.

The restoration of this truck began back in 2007. Rust repairs were extensively performed with new doors and cab corners, creating a straight-as-an-arrow beauty. Blue and White complement those Apache lines. Her chrome and brightwork are perfect, thanks to new bumpers and the replating of that famous grill. All glass was replaced during the restoration. Her wood bed was rebuilt and brought to a luster. Really, the only exterior customization is to the spare tire and classic rims.

Well enough was, well, not enough so a completely customized interior was installed. White and Blue vinyl balance with her exterior masterfully. Chrome accents the trim, even the carpet. Dash and gauges show picture perfect. Power improvements have been installed in the form of steering and braking.

Modifying her was the goal and a 1966 Impala became a donor for the modifications . Rebuilt and warmed, a 283 cid V8 was installed. Warming includes ¾ Duntov cam, fuelie heads and all is topped with stunning triple deuces – progressive in function with a modern electronically activated choke assembly. Next is a rebuilt Powerglide automatic transmission and we finish with a GM 10 bolt, 3.42 geared, derived from a 1989 Z/28. The suspension is 100% original and has been completely rebuilt with new king pins, bushings, and bearings replaced with new OEM equipment. She still carries her original drum brakes, but now power-assisted.

A thorough and critical examination of this show rig was performed by a third-party inspector. Not to mince words, he was tough and in our opinion, a bit biased in the report. One item to note, the PPI mentions "the A/C does not blow cold, and the compressor did not turn on." That is because the car does not and never had A/C. It does have the optional Deluxe heater package that mixes hot air with the outside air. The heating system is currently in working order. Most challenging is the presence of oil leaks, which are reported as a recent occurrence.

Being a Texan, she has drawn the attention of many car enthusiasts, including one Mr. Rawlins who likes to Monkey around. He tried, unsuccessfully, to purchase her. Reported to be disappointed, he likely soaked his failure in a barley-pop. Other attention brought other success, in the form of 11 show awards, including one "Best of Show". She’s in need of a little elbow grease, thus taking perfection to a new and personal level. She was a hard worker, now a show winner and represents Texas gusto and American class.
