It's your second chance to own this beauty! At a super low 55,685 miles and used as a cinema extra, this beautiful, loaded , original and stunning first gen Thunderbird has it all.
Pride of ownership, both past and present ooze when you lay your sights on this red beauty. A ground-up restoration was performed in 2012 which brought her to elite status. All the extras make this loaded T-bird extraordinary. Located in Middleboro, MA, she’s the charm of the town.
Red exterior shows bright and shiny with just a few flaws. Wire wheels hold big whitewalls and set the stage for a beautiful stance. Chrome and bright work are very, very nice and very complete. Two tops come with the car and they are reported as very nice. Oxidation was noted at a few spots, leading to a slight concern about minor rust. The profile, the stance, the color all add up to her movie star status.
White vinyl in its originality surrounds the occupants. The upholstery shows some wear and an upgrade was made to the steering wheel, with the original being available. Luxury additions include power steering, power brakes, power windows and air conditioning. Gauges and accessories are all reported as functioning proper.
Ford’s ‘Y’ block 312 rests in the very clean and cozy engine bay. Aftermarket carburation is provided by Edelbrock. The remaining mechanical aspects to the car are reported as original or OEM replacement. A Ford-O-Matic resides behind the V8 and the remaining suspension was brought back to solid condition during the restoration. Originality was the parameter with the refreshment of the car.
The highly critical crew from Lemon Squad gave her a thorough review. They were simply critical of many simple things, however they did discover what they believe to be the early beginnings of rust at a few spots. A power steering leak was also discovered. At the interior a bubbling was denoted in the dash and a few stitching flaws were apparent.
A significant and wonderful car, the ’57 is considered by many to be the best ‘Bird made. The last of the first generation before something happened behind the front seat. Should Ford have stayed in direct competition with Chevrolet’s Corvette, who knows what would have been developed. We do know that many more Thunderbirds were produced than Corvettes in those early days, and even though Ford was aiming more towards the Gentleman driver’s market, sporty styling and bigger motors gave for an edge.
