This 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is a golden sports car from the golden age of T-tops coupes. And there\'s a lot to love with this one where there\'s the numbers-matching V8, cold-blowing air conditioning, and a value price that leaves a lot of room to realize the car\'s full potential.
This has all the best Trans Am pieces you love. A big hood bird is framing the shaker-style scoop. The body looks extra sporty with big fender flares, side vents, and a three-piece rear spoiler. And, of course, the snowflake alloys are iconic all on their own. They even have a golden glow that coordinates well with the factory-correct Solar Gold paint. So this one has the right fundamental style in place. The classic car market loves this generation Trans Am, so we bet you already know the value price here reflects a fit and finish far from perfection. But often, we see cars like this as an opportunity to have a dream car that would have been otherwise out of reach and a great base for your passion project. So this is quite a complete and iconic foundation.
Like the exterior, the interior gives you plenty of the best pieces we love in a 2nd-gen Trans Am. This includes the hobnail cloth upholstery, golden machine-turned panels, and T-tops. It\'s not perfect, but it\'s a good foundation. What\'s particularly nice about the interior is cruiser potential here from day one. It\'s very driver-oriented with the high-back front bucket seats, center console, and classic T/A sports steering wheel on a tilt column. The factory air conditioning is blowing nice and cold, so you can take the T-tops out on a sunny day and still feel comfortable. There\'s even an upgraded AM/FM stereo with USB and Bluetooth to give you the best driving music.
Under the hood is the numbers-matching 403 cubic-inch V8. It inhales deeply with a four-barrel carburetor and exhales with plenty of rumbles through the shortened exhaust and Cherry Bomb mufflers. There was a recent tune-up to keep it a strong V8. Plus, there\'s the potential for a solid cruiser with the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, front disc brakes, and sway bars front & rear.
This Trans Am is a choose-your-own-adventure classic. You can put new tires on it and have a value-priced A/C and T-top cruiser. Or maybe you take all the extra cash this level in your T/A budget and turn it into a full restomod with upgraded sleek paint and an LS-level V8 under the hood. There\'s a lot of potential here, and the only way to realize it is to be the first to take it home. Call now!
