1965 Mustang Fastback $21,500 - Dunlap, TN The Mustang was Detroits largest single success of the 1960`s, and set an all-time record foe first year sales. Introduced at the New York Worlds Fair, demand immediately exceeded supply by a 15 to 1 ratio, even today, Mustang`s popularity has not diminished. The 1965 Mustang is a respectable driver, not a show car, but has lots of potential. The car is powered by a good running A-code, 289 C.I, 4 barrel carborated engine. The engine is dresses up with chrome valve covers, chrome breather and an aluminum radiator. The transmission is an automatic. The interior is nice, with dash pad, door panels, and carpet in good condition. The seats are nice, however the stitching has turned loose on the top of the drivers seat about 3 inches long. The rear seats fold down. Bumpers are rechromed and other exterior trim is decent and glass is good. Pony wheels and a nice set of 215/70/14 B.F. Goodrich tires are another plus. There is an under dash factory A/C unit and the compressor is on the engine, however the A/C needs serving. The hood is fiberglass and the body is straight. The paint is good enough for a driver, but has a few issues. If restoration was planned, you would repair some rust in the floor pan, but not by any means extensive. The price is such, that some money could be spent and have a very nice car and still be below market value.
