 Vehicle Description
Arent you tired of boring, stock Corvettes? The focus on numbers and documentation has taken all the fun out of vintage fiberglass, but this awesome 1966 Corvette coupe puts it all back in. Tastefully modified to keep the cars spirit intact, it offers more of everything you want out of your Corvette: power, comfort, and reliability.

Originally painted code 988 Milano Maroon, this slick mid-year now wears what could easily pass for Laguna Blue, a fairly rare color that works exceedingly well on the sleek Sting Ray shape. Externally, this looks exactly like every other mid-year coupe, and thats definitely a good thing. There are no signs of the modifications within and instead youre treated to some super-straight fiberglass and a deep, shiny finish that looks fantastic. It shows a few signs of use, because after all it was built to be driven, but rolling up in this dark blue Vette will undoubtedly get you a whole lot of attention. A big part of that is due to the side pipes, which not only sound spectacular, but offer a brutal performance look that offsets all the dark paint beautifully. Theres also a lot of restored trim, including the front bumperettes and the stainless window surrounds, including the critical trim around the wrap-around rear window. Even a purist will nod and smile at this car because it practically defines Corvette performance in the 1960s.

The interior is much the same story. Sure, if you look really closely you might see a few traces of the hidden upgrades, but for the most part, it wont raise any eyebrows even at all-Corvette shows. Beautiful black seats are in great condition and the vinyl upholstery does the best impersonation of leather that Ive seen in a long, long time. The woodgrained steering wheel offers some warmth in contrast, and brushed stainless was the preferred material for dressing up interiors in the 1960s. As I said, the modifications are only visible upon close inspection, so youll note that the shifter now shows four forward gears, the radio is a Kenwood AM/FM/cassette unit with USB and auxiliary inputs in the glove box, and theres a very cleverly hidden A/C system thats also quite effective. Nobody will argue that the guy who built this car wasnt respecting the original design!

Big blocks are all the rage, but I bet the 383 cubic inch stroker motor under the hood of this Vette will give them all a run for their money. With a high-rise intake and Holley 4-barrel carb, the torque curve is as broad and flat as Kansas, and long-tube headers feeding the side pipes offer a spectacular sound. Modern chrome bits like the air cleaner and valve covers are dressed up a bit with reproduction decals, which certainly helps with the illusion. An alternator, R134a refrigerant in the A/C system with a modern compressor, and a big aluminum BeCool radiator all add reliability without making dramatic alterations to the car itself. The transmission is a 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive, making this a fantastic highway cruiser, unlike so many of its high-strung and over-geared siblings. The rest of the undercarriage is quite stock, including the suspension that really doesnt need much in the way of upgrading and the 4-wheel disc brakes which became standard in 1965 are still quite effective. Stock steel wheels with full wheel covers help with the low-profile look and are wrapped in BFG rubber.

This is a Corvette that actually drives the way youve always imagined. No compromises, just knocking off the rough edges that most purists are afraid to touch. For the money, this is how Id want my Vette to be. Call today!
