WE ARE third owners: The gentlemen''s daughter we purchased it from 2 years ago said that he bought it about 40 years ago and it has been garaged at his place. He passed away and we purchased it from her. Before that, I do not know the history other than he purchased it from the original owner. It has obviously not been abused and definitely garaged throughout its life.
The overall shape of the car is excellent. The body is straight, panels are great as well. I have had it up on a lift when the glass packs were being installed and it is all original on the undercarriage. I did not see any rust to speak of and it looks very nice. The car has 93,000 miles on it and it is a gem.
The top is in great shape as well. I am not sure if you are familiar with how they function but in order for the top to automatically come up there are two large screws that rotate to begin the process....once they engage hydraulic cylinders lift the rear hood and top begins to unfold. I had the actual switch repaired and cylinders filled again for complete diagnosis of the mechanism. Vintage Auto performed all work on this and I highly recommend them for any future work. So the screws do engage with the new switch and begin to lift top but it does need manual help for lifting the rear hood and completing the entire process. This would be something that could be worked on (if desired) by the next owner.
Classic Auto has repaired many items on it for me (I will send the list) which I do have all receipts for...Major items include: New Starter, Fuel Pump, Carb tune-up, many vacuum lines replaced....the list goes on :)
Wide white wall tires and Coker rims are brand new as of a few weeks ago (I have receipts for all).
Tame glass pack mufflers were added for a very classic sound.
Interior has completely been re-done with new carpet, vinyl on the seats etc...looks awesome.
All the chrome on the entire car is original and in outstanding shape.
Gauges work with exception to gas....these can be replaced as well.
It has been well maintained and garaged while in my possession as well as the previous two owners. The only reason I am selling it is because I picked up a 1972 Chevrolet C10 so my wife is having "some issues" with two classics :).
By no means is it perfect but it is tough finding these with the foundation of a good undercarriage/frame, straight body, good chrome)....everything else can be worked on or attended too.
Title is free and clear as well.
Hopefully I have covered many items....it is tough because all these classics have an individual personality of their own. You have to get one that fits your needs and you feel comfortable working with. Once you own one you have to pick your battles
AND SOME OF MY FAVORITE QUOTES
"When you love what you do, You never have to go to work"
And my quotation of the day; "Chop your own wood, and it will warm you twice"
