1982 Chevrolet Corvette
New for 1982 was Crossfire Fuel Injection which utilized two computer controlled fuel injectors capable of making 80 adjustments per second. This resulted in better driveability, performance, and greater fuel economy. The 1982 exhaust system was redesigned with smaller and lighter catalytic converters. Corvette hoods featured a small door operated by a solenoid to direct fresh air into the air cleaner upon full throttle. 1982 was also the first year that a manual transmission was not offered, only a 700R4 Automatic transmission was available.
The Collector Edition was the first Corvette to exceed a $20,000 price tag.
