Comet Wails . . . Climb Aboard!

Click for larger Picture

The way competition-modified Comet FXers are coming out of chutes around the country has started a band wagon rolling. And this is one you'll enjoy joining.

The place to climb aboard is at your Mercury Comet dealer's.

Eyeball the whole beautiful Comet lineup. There are eleven models for you to choose from. When you see the one you like, take it out for a solo.

Back at the dealers, ask about the great Comet list of options. It will make your eyes pop up.

Engines range up to a Comet Cyclone Super 289 V8. Wild. And down to a hefty 200 cu. in. Comet "6" - which is pretty "up" for a "6." Buckets? Tach? Four-on-the-floor? Three-speed Multi-drive Merc-O-Matic? You name it, Comet's got it.

Some things just are not optional in a Comet, of course. Good looks, for example. A sporty flair. Solid heft. Big comfort. Authority on any kind of road.

So move down to your Comet dealer's. Drive the model of your choice. See why every 65' Comet's a winner. And discover how easy it is to climb aboard this band wagon.

General Information

1965 Mercury Comet Cyclone Model Production

In 1965 Mercury produced 12,347 Comet Cyclones. The starting price of these Cyclones was based at $2625.00

1965 Mercury Comet Cyclone Introduction

In 1965 the Comet Cyclone got all new styling! The checkered flag and Cyclone emblems were moved to the rear fenders. The upholstery design was changed and a different tachometer was used, as well as the biggest change being vertical headlights that made it look more like a Ford than Mercury. The stainless steel "chrome simulated" wheel covers remained the same.

The standard engine for 1965 was a 195 hp version of the 289 V-8 with a two-barrel carburetor. An optional engine was the 225 hp 289 V-8 that had a four-barrel carburetor. The same engine dress-up chrome appointments were retained for the 1965 Cyclone. A new optional hood was now available with twin air scoops made of fiberglass.
