1964 Mercury Cyclone
1964 was the first year for the Comet Cyclone. In 1964 all Cyclones came standard with Bucket Seats and console, 3 spoke steering wheel, tachometer, "chrome look" wheel covers as well as an engine dress up kit that included a special chrome air cleaner, dipstick, oil filter, radiator cap and rocker arms.
The standard Cyclone engine was the "Cyclone Super 289 V-8" with a four-barrel carburetor rated at 210 hp, optional was the hipo 271 hp version of the 289 V-8. A Cobra heavy-duty clutch, special carburetors, air cleaners, valve covers and many other performance related items were offered under this optional line.
In 1964 Mercury produced 7,454 Cyclones
