1971 Pontiac LeMans

Six engines were available on the Lemans including the 250 cu-in. 6-cylinder to the biggest engine Pontiac offers, a 455 cid H.O. V8 that turns out 335hp. Many of the 400 Lemans engines have been used and transplanted for similiar year GTOs. The 1970 to 1972 GTO front ends can be transplanted on to the similiar year Leman's to be made as GTO clones. This Endura styling option integrates a special grille and fender louvers with the GTO bumper, hood, parking light and headlight arrangement. However the VIN Lemans number would allow Pontiac afficiandos to know that the car is not an official GTO. The main rear body of the Lemans is the same style body as the 1970 to 1972 GTOs. Many of the interior features were also the same. You could take your pick of either Strato-bucket seats or the notch-back bench for both hardtope coupe and convertible. The GTO did come with more instrument cluster features like clocks and rpm gauges. Problem areas: These cars had a propensity to rust around the trunk floor behind the tires and also around the rear window molding area.
