The new Ford Torino

1968 Ford Torino

In 1968 the Ford Torino was "Ford's newest bright idea". Introduced to eventually replace the Fairlane, the new Torino offered lots of comfort and plenty of power with a wide variety of engine options. The first year the Torino had 68,699 model's sold. The Ford Fairlane Torino was the top trim level for 1968 and included all the Fairlane 500 trim plus lower bodyside moulding, special emblems and trim inside and out. There was a Torino crest on the "C" pillars of the two-door hardtop and four-door sedan. However there was the Fairlane Torino GT which was a sport version of the Fairlane 500 series and included again all the 500 trim and the 302 cu. in. V-8 with 210-hp. It had bucket seats and console, special name plaques and exterior trim, Deluxe wheel covers, and red safety and white courtesy lights on the interior door panels as standard equipment.
