1959 DeSoto Firesweep
The 1959 DeSoto Firesweep

1959 DeSoto Firesweep

In 1959, DeSoto revamped the front end to make it appear wider and lower which gave it a massive appearance on the road. Even the engines were bigger too. The Firesweep beholds a 361 cu. in. V8 while the Firedome and Fireflight increased to 383 cu. inches and the Adventurer models offered a dual four-barrel carburetor. Other improvements include swiveling front seats, air suspension in the rear, electronic headlight dimmer, push-button heater controls and sculpted roofs for more room. Unfortunatley, 1959 would be the last year for DeSoto Station Wagons and Convertibles. Features on the Firesweep included a Turboflash V8 engine, Torsion-Aire suspension, and Safe-Stop brakes.
