Comprehensive body-off restoration Gen IV 6.2L LS EFI V-8 crate engine with a upgraded camshaft rated at 495 HP and 473 lb-ft of torque Tremec 6-speed manual transmission Art Morrison subframe with Corvette A-arms and spindles Hot Hues Warp Speed Blue with Gray stripes Robbin Black German cloth convertible top Recaro Topline heated and cooled seats Fiske 2-piece aluminum wheels Air Ride technologies air ride system 3.73 ratio 33-spline straight cut axles Moser 12-bolt rear end with Detroit locker 2.5 inch Magnaflow exhaust Willwood brakes Carbon fiber front spoiler Upgraded audio system with AM/FM/Bluetooth radio This 1969 Camaro convertible started off with a comprehensive body-off restoration, onto which practically every system was upgraded, beginning with an Art Morrison subframe with Corvette A-arms and spindles and an Air Ride technologies air ride system. Beneath the cowl induction-style hood is now a Gen IV 6.2L LS EFI V-8 crate engine, normally aspirated with an upgraded camshaft and rated at 495 HP and 473 lb-ft of torque. With color-matched engine covers, a chrome air intake and smoothed firewall as accompaniments, the horsepower heads through 2.5-inch Magnaflow exhaust. To keep the engine in the happy zone, a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission was installed behind this, with a Moser 12-bolt rear end using positive traction via a Detroit Locker, a 3.73 final gear ratio and top-shelf 33-spline straight-cut axles out back. Wilwood brakes amply let you whoa after go. The massaged body is now sans identification and features a color-matched front bumper above the carbon fiber front spoiler, a Z28-type rear spoiler and dual outside mirrors. The primary paint is Hot Hues Warp Speed Blue accented by gray stripes. Inside is also retrofitted with Recaro Topline heated and cooled seats, white-faced Auto Meter gauges in a custom dash, a three-spoke steering wheel, short-throw shifter and modern controls. As needed, this can be covered by the Robbin Black German cloth convertible top, and the upgraded Alpine audio system features AM/FM/Bluetooth radio capabilities. The final revision was to Fiske two-piece aluminum wheels and low-profile radial tires. So, while perhaps not to OEM exactitude, this classic Camaro has been constructed for enjoyment in the 21st century, which is a reminder of another Springsteen song: Baby, we were born to run.
