Pontiac Starchief

The Pontiac Star Chief was a first produced in 1954 as one of Pontiac’s new prestigious models. New A-body styling and an 11 inch longer frame was among the marks for the new Star Chief series. In 1957 Pontiac made a push toward performance and the new high performance Star Chief Custom Bonneville was produced. In 1958 the Star Chief was no longer offered as Pontiac’s most prestigious model, as it lost it’s position to the Bonneville, and was now available as a two-door hardtop and two-door convertible. In 1959 the Star Chief was limited to sedans and hardtops. In the early 1960s, Star Chiefs were nearly identical to the Catalina, however the Star Chief's were built on a Bonneville platform and offered a tad more horsepower and interior and trim upgrades. In 1966 the car was renamed the Star Chief Executive and remained through 1966, after which it was replaced by the Pontiac Executive.
