DESCRIPTION
In 2014, this 1966 MUSTANG Convertible was fully restored to better than MCA standards with a few modifications, including dual (x-pipe) exhaust with GT style exit; an Edelbrock Performer 360 Aluminum Intake Manifold and Edelbrock 500 CFM Carburetor (all connections and lines are new); a (new) Pertronix Electronic Ignition System (w/40k Coil & 8mm Spark Plug Wires); and a (new) IGN1281 Pertronix Ignitor for improved performance & gas mileage; and, an oversize aluminum radiator, a 5-blade fan and enlarged fan shroud.
The 289 CID V8 engine was rebuilt by the previous owner approximately 10,000 miles ago. The engine was opened up during this restoration project, i.e. the main and rod caps were removed whereby the crank and timing chain were revealed to be in excellent-new condition.
The C4 automatic transmission shifts smoothly without any slippage and is an ideal setup for easy cruising. The oil cooler lines and vacuum modulator line were replaced. The rear differential was rebuilt with new ring and pinion gears. All bearings, seals and gaskets were replaced; the differential housing sandblasted and refinished. The front drum brakes were changed to a power disc brake system. The rear drum brakes are new. The car also has power steering for easy driving and stops on a dime.
The firewall, cowl grille assembly, complete floor pan and inner rocker panels are new. All new sheet metal was painted in red oxide to keep fresh and solid. The front steering and suspension system are new. The rear suspension system is new.
The original Tahoe Turquoise color is gorgeous and the correct matching deluxe Pony interior is quite a combination. The dash was removed and painted as was the padded dash. The windshield was replaced and all exterior chrome trim is new. The wheels are original. The tires are new. The convertible top and all its hardware are new, including motor and hydraulic cylinder and lines.
