DESCRIPTION

1965 Ford Mustang Fastback

Born on March 13th, 1965, this Mustang has undergone an extensive restoration bringing it back to nearly showroom new. Retaining its original Dynasty Green exterior and black standard appointments on the interior, the restoration stuck exactly to the way this stunning and wildly popular fastback rolled off the Dearborn assembly line. A consignor stated 3-owner car that was restored in the 90\'s is still looking showroom fresh today inour overstuffed Hallowed Halls.

Exterior
This car has it all with the fastback styling, vented B pillar, ribbed and polished stainless steel rocker molding, hockey stick door and rear quarter coves, and 14-inch steel wheels with standard issue Mustang covers. All this straight steel is draped in warranty plate correct Dynasty Green, and it is looking very good with only a few very minor inclusions. All chrome on the bumpers is good, and the same goes for the correct badging and decals. A look from the rear reveals the iconic triple vertical cluster of taillights, running horse fuel filler cap, and a large curved rear greenhouse glass. The front of the car features the horizontal and vertically barred galloping pony hovering in the honeycomb grille and sandwiched between single round headlights within louvered bezels.

Interior
No liberties were taken on the interior during the restoration and the warranty tag was followed exactingly. Very clean looking buckets upfront and a 2 plus 2 rear bench with smooth black bolsters and nice black horizontal tuck and roll inserts greet our posterious upon slipping inside. As an added bonus the rear seat folds flat for a little more cargo space. The center hump races from front to rear and has a chrome laded wonderful 60\'s style shifter well within reach of the driver\'s right arm. The dash is the original Mustang configuration for 1965 model year, and holds the long sweeping speedometer between 2 rounds all within a black camera case finished bezel. This is fronted by the original 3 spoke black plastic steering wheel. In the center is a modern AM/FM/Cassette radio and heater slides, and on the passenger\'s side is a black texture finished glovebox. Black carpet floods the floors and is very clean as well as the black vinyl headliner. A shout to the original looking nicely finished correct plaid covered trunk and original looking spare.

Drivetrain
An original to this car 200ci I6 topped with a 1-barrel carburetor resides in the cleanly restored engine bay and shows with a black block and red dress up for the valve covering and air cleaner assembly. All dressed up, it has correct hoses, wires and bolt ons with things are looking very much like new here. A C4 3-speed automatic is bolted to the back of the mill and rounding out the drivetrain is a Ford 7 1/4\" conventional rear axle weighing in with a 2.83 ratio.

Undercarriage
All extremely clean and virtually no road dirt and only slight surface rust on untreated components. Black undercoating is covering the floors which have had some replacement patches installed during the restoration. We can see independent coil spring front suspension working with a leaf spring rear arrangement and drum brakes all around. A surface rusted single exhaust system snakes its way rearward to a stock style muffler before ending in a single turned down tip.

Drive-Ability
Like I was a kid all over again as my parents had a 1966 version, and I used to stand on the hump as we jetted down the road. Sitting in it brought back memories, and it performed great, handled the test track swimmingly, and has some sweet acceleration! It earned its name and then some all the while looking great doing so.

Here we have a meticulously restored and highly sought-after fastback version of the Ford Mustang. Taken back to the way it rolled off the assembly line and a great combination to boot. If you are in the market for a moderately priced classic, that starts right up and runs smoothly, this is the car that should grace your garage. Leave the kids at home in front of the TV and enjoy the sound of kid silence, carve some corners and you have nothing but great conversation, and a smile on your face.
