DESCRIPTION

1964 Meyers Manx 1 Dune Buggy

So kids let\'s cut school, grab our waxed boards and head for the beach but let\'s do it in style with this fiberglass bodied, VW chassis dune buggy. Yes were gettin\' rid of that rounded old stale body style, too heavy for the sand jeep styling and going to a lightweight dune buggy that can cut through he beaches and get us top the water. This beauty of a car is that is an original and authenticated 1968-1969 Meyers Manx 1 with a meticulous period correct restoration boasting many NOS and refurbished original parts throughout. With its classic style and sexy stance, this Manx is a true collectible. How cool is that?? Gnarly, (but that word had not been invented yet so lets just say groovy!).

Exterior
The Manx glistens with a golden orange metal flake paint atop its fiberglass body, (original Meyers Manx color code Meadowbrook 07E). In the front you will find a chromed bumper and a Manx badge on the hood with original chrome Dietz 820 headlamps along with glass lens Lucas turn signals, NOS Enots Monza gas filler cap and driver side NOS Delswift exterior mirror. In the back of the Manx you will find original 1964 chromed VW tail lights, along with a chromed license plate light and correct filler plate with Meyers Manx license plate frame and Manx rear badge. A chromed bumper and original skid plate protect the engine with a Sidewinder exhaust. The Manx comes with two hardtops; a white hard top and an orange hibiscus patterned hardtop, both of which attach to an original Meyers Manx windshield, (with early VW bus inside rearview mirror), and a Meyers Manx chromed roll bar just aft of the interior seats. The tops can be taken off for full open air effect. White painted original VW custom widened 6x14\" front and 8x15\" rear deep dish wide 5 wheels* with VW original moon caps and Goodyear Polyglas raised white letter tires complete the look.

Interior
The attention to detail keeps going as your eyes are drawn to the perfectly replicated Logan fiberglass bucket seats covered in white naugahyde with stitched pleats. A Superior 500 rally steering wheel with Manx horn button and VW turn signal switch fronts the Manx\'s dash. With its clean lines, the dash boasts a ton of original VW goodies including the speedo and fuel gauge, headlight and wiper switches, and ignition switch with original VW key. The dash also includes a NOS Hollywood ashtray. But the true icing on the cake is Bruce Meyers\' signature adorning the right of the dash. The uncovered floors are beautifully black painted. A NOS chrome Hurst shifter gets you through the gears. The interior also has a replicated Bosch battery, held in place by a VW battery strap. It also comes with a 1968/69 original VW tool roll with a screwdriver, spark plug socket, wrenches, pliers, and hubcap puller.

Drivetrain
In the back is the freshly rebuilt 1967 1500 single port engine that has been increased to 1641cc. While using an original crank and case, it has new bearings, oil pump, Engle 100 cam, cylinders, pistons, valves, and reworked heads. Also found are dual 1-barrel 34mm Dellorto carburetors with a Pierburg fuel pump, Bosch 019 distributor, rebuilt Bosch generator and starter, and a Meyers signature-style Sidewinder exhaust. A 4-speed manual swing transaxle with new a throw out bearing, trans seal, machined flywheel, and Porsche clutch and pressure plate complete the driveline. The transaxle also has new boots, axle seals and bearings.

Undercarriage
Down below we are greeted with a totally refurbished 1964 VW pan, shortened 14 -inches to fit the Manx body. All new lines, hoses, wheel cylinders, brake shoes, bearings, cables, and shocks were installed during the build, nothing has been left untouched. The front beam has an original select-a-drop height adjuster and drum brakes. The rear is swing axle, also with drum brakes. We note nothing but clean black panels and steel with nary a spec of rust to be seen.

Drive-Ability
This Manx fired right up with the turn of a key and ran and drove like an original, authenticated Meyers Manx dune buggy. The metal flake paint drew all of the lookies loosin during our time behind the wheel and the stunning beauty of this car had them asking where the beach bonfires, surfing and just good old fashioned fun was going to be happening. Hey Frankie, there\'s a party tonite at this old guys place, he\'s gonna make us stars!!

An original Meyers Manx Dune Buggy, painfully and carefully restored. All working, 14 coats of clear coating, big wheels and tires the that hibiscus orange top is to die for. Dig the era of cool cigarettes and free love.
