1963 STUDEBAKER GRAN TURISMO HAWK T-1316 This 1963 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk is a middle year example of the Hawk lines final evolution. Built between 1962 and 1964, just under 14,000 of these sporty coupes were made over a period where Ford managed to sell nearly 17 times that many of the competing Thunderbird. For 1963, the car was slightly restyled, with refinements to the front, sides, and rear. Round parking lights below the headlights replaced the previous rectangular ones, set into the corners of the newly closed side grilles that bore a squared pattern of lines over fine mesh. This same squared mesh pattern was carried over onto the main grille, replacing the simple fine mesh of the 1962 models. Early in 1963 production the parking light bezels were changed and the right side of the dash became woodgrain, matching the area around the instruments. The doors had red, white, and blue emblems added next to the Gran Turismo emblems, and at the rear, the aluminum overlay's colors were reversed and red, white, and blue were added to the Hawk emblem on the top of the trunk lid. Inside, 1963 Hawks have vertical pleats in the seat upholstery, replacing the 1962's horizontal pleats, and have far superior vinyl. This particular Studebaker is a rust-free, dependable driver. This 289ci V8/4-speed car is mostly original apart from one respray. The engine and transmission have recently been rebuilt for a care free owning experience. Equipped with power steering and power (front) disc brakes, and A/C, original hubcaps, thin white wall tires, and a wood grain dash that ties in the numerous gauges at your disposal. The newly finished exterior color is a factory-correct Champagne Gold Poly finish. The new upholstery is laid out in a regal red leather that really complements the car and shows very well. The glass, rubber and trim are in good condition.
