1980's Studebaker

The Avanti started life in 1962 as the Raymond Loewy designed flagship sports car of Studebaker automobile company. Despite the demise of Studebaker itself the intrinsic strengths of the Avanti have allowed it to remain at the forefront of American sports cars for more than a generation. The original Avantis were produced in the Studebaker factory in South Bend, Indiana. After periods in Canada; Youngstown, Ohio; and Villa Rica, Georgia; the manufacturing operation was transferred to Cancun, Mexico in 2006.The Avanti continued to use the original, Studebaker designed, frame until the 1987 model year when a General Motors platform was adopted. They are still in business and producing cars on Ford chassis now.

Didn't Studebaker stop making cars in 1968-69?

Studebaker was still making cars into the 70's and 80's? I thought they stopped production in the late 40's- early 50's, after WWII demand stopped.

This looks like a real Avanti and opposed to the Avanti II which is not a Stude. The Avanti II was built in the '80's and had SBC engines. This looks like an old Stude engine. They are fiberglass cars and all should be saved. Wow
