Sunshine and 250 Classic Cars at this year’s Razz & Shine in Historic Downtown Lynden
Front Street in downtown Lynden, Washington was a sea of sparkling chrome as classic car owners displayed their classic cars, trucks, muscle cars, works in progress and everything in between at the 4th Annual Razz & Shine Cruise-in on July 17, 2010.
Sponsored by Windermere Real Estate, OldRide.com and the Lynden Chamber of Commerce, the free annual event is becoming more and more popular among car enthusiast each year. This year was no exception with a total of 250 registrants increasing from 155 since the previous year. Early in the morning a caravan of coupes, convertibles, trucks and sedans filled the shade lined street. Many car aficionados’ who attend a multitude of car shows every year expressed how they really enjoy the Razz & Shine Cruise-in. The backdrop provides a laid back, relaxed atmosphere where you can sit back and watch the show.
People love to come out and ooh and aah over the classic automobiles. The Razz and Shine provides the community with hundreds of cars on display and introduces more people to the collector car hobby. Car Show entrants had the opportunity to vote for their favorite vehicle of the show and the Participants Choice was awarded to Larry Brown and his 1903 Oldsmobile Carriage and he walked away with $100 gift card to Home Depot.
The Razz & Shine coincides with the annual Raspberry Festival. Attendees were treated to an “all you can eat” raspberry pancake breakfast, 3 on 3 basketball tournament, street market and sidewalk sale, winery tours and live jazz music. Spectators and car owners were also treated to the sounds of classic oldies played by the Freedom Trio.
Make sure to mark your calendar for next year’s show (tentative date July 16, 2011) as this is quickly becoming one of the Pacific Northwest’s more popular events.
