I'm look to buy a 1968 Impala fastback SS so the guy says He has sent me this part of the vin 16487 and said it had a 350 4 speed in it SS badges inside and bucket sets To me the when I run that part of the vin it doesn't make any sense I believe it's not a true SS Before I by it and start ordering parts for it Can you tell me if it could still be a SS or just a clone the car This car needs to be restored and is there anything else I should look for Thank you Mil

the vin is correct for a impala 2 dr ht 8 cyl . gm did not make a model number for the 68 SS that was different than the impala 2 dr ht . only way to find out for sure would be from a build sheet, look in seat bottom springs , front and rear . other locations possible are under floor mat and on top of gas tank.
