Have a 1983 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham with 4100 V8 (249 C.I.) and 4 speed overdrive trans that I'm using the whole plateform to put under a 1952 Buick Roadmaster. Would like to know what General Motors engines will bolt up to this overdrive transmission? [Don't know the model numbers for this transmission. It's what ever the factory put in the car in 1983.] Been to a few local Cadillac dealerships and there are no older mechanics around that know anything about these cars. Seems they hire all new kids that know the computer cars of the last ten years. The pnly info I've been able to find shows that Cadillac also put a Oldsmobile 350 Deisel motor in this car in 1983, but it only had a 3 speed automatic trans. Right now I have a chance at a 72-76 Cadillac 500 C.I. motor but thats twice the Cubic inches of the stock engine hooked up to this trans now. Will it hook up? Is there an adapter to make it hook up? Is there a Buick motor that will work. I don't what to buy a bunch of motors to see if they will fit. I'm driving the old Caddy now to make sure the frame and all components are working well before the transfer begins. My plan is to build a reliable custom that I can find parts for during a road cruise or cross country travels. Would like Fuel injection motor if possible. Please any help will be appreciated. I have a limited budget and haven't followed GM stuff in the last 30 years due to buying two new Chevrolet (LEMONS) back to back in the late seventies. Please a

Have you tried looking at a Hollander Interchange Manual to see what engine would work?
