i bought a 1961 catalina to restore. there was no motor or trans in the car.it came with a 389 auto. my question is will a later yr motor and trans bolt up to the car with out making any modifications to the cross member or drive shaft length? i have a 1966 389 with a turbo 400 trans. thanks alot.

The 389 will drop right in, the 400 tranny however will not fit (nicely), you would need to modify your firewall a bit, its not much however. Linkage would also need to be modified. I think Ames makes a kit. Driveline, I am not sure?
