I am building a 327 engine..I am trying to keep the machine work cost to a minimum as I am on a tight budget..I bought one block but it needed a bore job so I bought another block in excellent condition but the problem is the second engine didnt come with the main bearing caps..not sure if I can still get them so my question is can I take the main caps from the first engine and use them on the second engine ? hopefully without doing any machine work..both cranks are good to use..

307 motors and327 motors used crank sstrokes of 3.25 inches all 307 cranks are medium journal cranks while 327 cranks were made in both small and medium journal you can use a 350 mediumjournal block and rebalance a common medium journal 307 crank and builda a 4 bolt 327 sweet the 267,305,and 350 cranks used a 3.48 stroke length with medium journals..also a307 crank is not the same as a 327 crank even though they physicly interchange with each other but are not balanced the same but share the samestroke also so you got choices just be sure when mixing rotating assemblies parts have it all rebalanced.same thing with harmonic balancer and flywheel. little long sorry

Thanks for the answers..so anybody changing cranks or the caps needs to be bored ?..so the caps and engine is the most important thing to keep from the same engine ?
