Ford typically didn't put the vehicle serial number (VIN) on engines until the late 60's, so there is no way to be 100% sure the engine is original to the truck, and therefore, no "matching numbers". However the truck has a scheduled build date ("DATE" on the warranty tag) and the engine will have a casting date cast into the block, heads, intake and exhaust manifolds and other major components. These casting dates should all be close, and typically 1-8 weeks prior to the truck's scheduled build date if they are original to the truck. There are several sites specific to the older trucks on the web, and any / all can be great sources of information. Hope this helps.
