1966 Pontiac Catalina pinging
I recently had the motorvac service done on my Pontiac. They did it through the carburetor . I expected the car to run smoother and not ping. But it is still pings. I use high test gasoline. How do i get rid of the pinging? It doesn't perform as they said it would after the motorvac service.
It has a 389 C.I.D. and the hp is 290.

The timing is probaly advanced to much. Or the Vacuum advance wights under the rotor are stuck open. Make sure the cold air valve down by where the exhaust bolts to the manifold is not stuck closed. Is it running hot, that will cause it. I have a good 389 eng run's great. but having the cleaner ran throgh is good ideal
The motor is posted on e-bay, check it out. It is a 61 eng, my site is 517hunter1, or look-up by typing 389 pontaic eng
