I recently dismantled the rearend on my 53 bel air did some clean up and and put some lowering blocks on. When I went to install the rearend my leaf springs are not lining up with the mounting holes... Like the springs are not long enough. Almost a whole 2.5 inches off. I tried jacking up the rearend and using the bottom of the car to push against to strech them out so they would line up , but it still wasnt enough. I just ended up lifting the car. Any help would be great . Thanks. Hoog.

if you have stock rear axle under car the rear end could have moved to rear ant though the driveshaft housing is connected the u joint could be off the shaft not allowing rear end to move back into place.with car in park or in gear hold 1 axle and try turning other to test.if not stock axle the center bolts on springs were about that far ahead of center of axle.and needs to be adjusted for .
