Several years ago I remember hearing about a make of automobiles called Dawson. Does anyone know if this type of car ever existed? and if so does anyone know who made them, how many were made and if any still exist?

The Encyclopedia of Motor Cars lists 4 Dawson manufacturers - 2 American and 2 British. The American Dawson's were first made by the Dawson Manufacturing Co. of Basic City, VA. in 1900 to 1902 and is described as a 2 cylinder steamer, tiller steered and chain driven with possible only 1 ever made. The 2nd American Dawson was made by the J.H. Dawson Machinery Co. of chicago from 1904 to 1905. It is described as a 2 cylinder with 16 HP and also chain driven. I'm going to be a skeptic and doubt that there is any evidence of a Dawson still in existance in the US.
