I have a friend with a 50's GMC semi it has a big inline 6 cylinder gasoline engine with a large crack in the block. We also do not know the model it has a tandem rear axle with a fifth wheel hitch can anyone tell us the possible sizes of the engine and models?

The picture is not of the truck wehave came to a conclusion it is a 54 but are still not sure on the engine would they still be the same cid?
If the picture used is the GMC truck you are looking for info on it is a pre 47 model .google 46 GMC engines look for GM Heritage . or GMC HISTORY .The engines used in the larger 46 trucks were 426 and 477 cid . LOTS OF HISTORY ON THAT WEB SITE.
