I have a 72 C10 that appears to be almost 100% original. It's the base model, Custom/10, and is Chevrolet Medium Green (kind of a mint color) with one repaint original color. The interior was painted along with the exterior and a few things aren't lining up. The dash pad and steering column are Dark Green . The steering wheel is faded, cracked and dark blue. The horn button is faded almost to white but you can tell it was blue as well. According to the numbers the transmission, TH350, is correct to the 307 motor which all lines up with the VIN as original. There is no indication of a stick shift ever being installed through the floor. I have no idea why someone would replace the column and steering wheel with a junkyard column and wheel from the same year model as there is no indication of it ever being wrecked either. My questions are: Did these trucks only have 6 colors of dash pads when new as shown in the LMC Truck catalog page 109? I asked LMC but was told they had no idea if any additional colors beyond their 6 were ever used. (They offer Black, Blue, Brown, Gray, Green and Red) Along the same lines, were the steering columns in the 1972 C10 base model Medium Green exterior, painted Dark Green? If so, should the entire interior be painted a different color from the exterior to be period correct? Only God will know where the blue steering wheel came from and why. I'm not even going to raise that question I just mentioned it as t'it may be a clue as to what's going
