Well, I'm trying to purchase a 1971 Ford Maverick, only has two problems, 1. There is a dent above the front right(drivers) wheel that continues to the front of the car, 2. Still has original paint and since it's in socal, has been rather exposed to the elements. Slight surface rust near the windows. My questions are, how do I know that I'm not buying a lemon, were would it be easiest to buy parts for this car, and how difficult would it be to repair the dent? Thanks.

I was at a police impound auction recently and a really straight and complete and rust free '72 4-door maverick with factory 302 and automatic transmission sold for $250.00. I don't know if it ran or drove but it looked liked it would, I was surprised that it sold so cheap. Hope this info is of some use.

Have you tried running a VIN check on the vehicle to see it's history? How much are they asking?
