If has one, where is Vin # located on 1948 Chev Car 4-dr? Have firewall plate with model, style, body, trim, & paint code, but no Vin#.
Is this required for insurance?

The 1941-1948 chevy car Vin tag is located on the passenger side floor under the mat or carpetor whatever you have.
According to the standard catalog of american cars 1946-1975 the vin numbers for all '46 '47 and '48 cars are stamped on the right front door hinge pillar.
