The 1941-1948 chevy car Vin tag is located on the passenger side floor under the mat or carpetor whatever you have.

According to the standard catalog of american cars 1946-1975 the vin numbers for all '46 '47 and '48 cars are stamped on the right front door hinge pillar.

Thanks Mke64. It's not on any door jams (4 doors). Only thing on firewall is plate with style, trim, color, etc. Didn't see number for vin on that plate.

sometimes it is on the door pillar /window A pillar if not there try the cowl

Thanks 68mustang-gt for your response. Last night I looked at driver's side door, didn't think about passenger side door. Will check it out tonight.

I believe that the vin plate is located on the passenger hinge post,right above the lower hinge.
