Best vws were pre-'67 bug and bus. They are impossible to kill and make great rat rods.

68-69 for sure, I worked at a V.W. dealership for a few yeras as a mechanic,best darn cars ever made dollar for dollar!!

I will agree with welderbill for his 1st couple of reasons. The metal dash with 12 volt elect and bigger engine all added to enjoyment. They rarely had trouble with engines until after this...bored out etc. 68 & 69 would be next for more creature comforts.

Hello,.. In my opinion, the 1967 VW Bettle was the best one. I've had many various years, and prefer any prior to 68'. The 67' was the first year for the bigger 1500 engine, first for 12 volt electric system, and other ninor changes. The bigger engine and the 12 volt system, was a BIG improvement. I am mostly into !955-56-57' Chevys, but I still have my five VW's., Two 67's, one 69, one 66(the only year for the 1300 eng.),and a original 61' that was at the Woodstock festival. Anyway, I could go on, and on. Hope you find what your looking for. Bill

You definitely dont want to hear my opinion! I think all those little beetles were prone to problems, then again, as I think about it, which old car isnt!
