Yah its me again ONE sure way to know if its a 1957 engine and not a later one .Is to look underneath or on a houist . If motor mounts can be in stalled on the side of the block and not just the front 1958 was the first year for that, Nough said "OLDSCHOOL"

Chislin Hi its OLDSCHOOL My early manual says from 1958-1962 shows G,D,or E as a 283 must be a replacement engine 1957 283 would have been E,F, or G The 1957 engine identification 1957 V8 engines can be identifidied as follows the engine number of 265 ci V8' s ends in C,CD,or CE all others are 283 If your intake has a 4barrel carb then you have a Power Pack motor with high compression heads Hope this helps "OLDSCHOOL"
