Casting Code Year Definitions Decade of Manufacture: A=1940 B=1950 C=1960 D=1970 E=1980 F=1990 Decade Year: The digit of the year. A C8 would be 1968, a D1 would be 1971, C3 is a 1963.

The casting # is above the starter location on the block directly above the starter motor mount visible when the starter is fitted at its rear most point near the upper mounting bolt threaded point.
