Also forgot to mention how important it is to check all the numbers and castings because sometimes there are dirtbags out there that recreate VIN tags or Protect-o-plates to try and con innocent buyers.

Since the SS was a offered as a performance package, one of the best ways to tell if your vehicle is a TRUE SS is by the engine. Check all of your dates, castings and VIN - if your VIN states it was a 6-cylinder or came with an engine that was not offered with the SS package then it is not a SS. What year Impala are you asking about by the way?
