Block # 3789817 which most sites shows to be 327, but the coding on the pass. front pad is T0504D, and the ONLY D code I find is a 58-60 283/PG?
The guy I bought it from was selling it as a 283, but when I asked for the casting #, when I looked it up in my "How to Rebuild a Small Block Chevy" book, it showed to be a 62-67 327, so I jumped on it figuring he didn't know what he had.
ANY & ALL help will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

The 327 has a steel crank and the 283 doe's not. My core book also show's the eng too be a 327.
Knowing several guys that worked at G.M. Chrysler, and Ford...........many many mistakes were made on the line and were never corrected,so when we are scratching our hesd meny times trying to figure out how could this be,it just is not right, well thats the way some cars left the assembly line,no harm intended.
I have pictures of 1970 G.M. pickups getting LT-1 engines put in at the factory because they ran out of standard 350's,V.I.N. was not even stamped on the pad, cant stop the production for small things like this.
Guys ,and gals I could right abook on some of the things that went out the door, that you would not believe.
