Even though Dodge set out to build a new pickup every year, it wanted to keep their well known appearance and comfort rather and improving the little things rather than changing the style year after year. Dodge realized that customers didn't necessarily want big changes in vehicles from year to year but more comfortable with traditional proven appearances. Therefore, the Dodge pickups were designed to incorporate more passenger car-like comfort and convenience. The cab was line with double-wall construction to reduce the noise level and which also gave greater strength to the cab and box. There are independent coil spring in the front and leaf springs in the back to carry heavy loads, while the track was widened for stability and a smoother ride. The standard engine was the 225 slant six or the 318, 360 and 400 V8 engines were optional. The Dodge Pickup could be ordered in 3 different trim options - Adventurer, Adventurer sport and Adventurer Special Edition and 2 camper packages were available - Heavy-duty package and trailer-towing package.
The Maixvan featured one of the largest cargo areas along with the widest side door of any van built in the U.S. and came available in a 109 or 127 inch wheelbase. It was equipped with Power disc front brakes, independent front suspension, 26 gallon gas tank, plus more.
