1969 Ford Econoline

The 1969 Econoline Series could be identified by the horizontal bars grille with the Ford name in block letters on the upper portion.  They had the same Twin-I-Beam Suspension as the Ford Trucks which allowed for a smooth, gentle ride.  Since the engine was pushed forward out of the load space, it was now possible to swing the drivers’ seat into the cargo area and allowed for 23% more floor space.  Standard features on the Econoline were vinyl colored upholstery, painted front and rear bumpers and hubcaps, dome lights in driver’s compartment and cargo area, ashtray, coat hook, mechanical jack, double grip door locks, metal door checks, double cargo doors at right and rear. The Econoline E200 series featured a front axle with a capacity of 2,750 lbs while the rear axle was rated at 3,300 lbs and had the same standard options as the E-100 line-up.  For around $600 more, one could purchase the Econoline E300 series with a front axle load of 3,300 lbs and 4,800 in the rear.  These higher capacity axles allow more weight to be transported plus the long wheelbases result in turnpike stability.  Club Wagons were much the same as the Econoline, except they were produced as passenger vans.
