VIN: LY1**4276 This Imperial is a complete unrestored car which had been stored in Big Springs, Texas in a carport for over 30 years. Showing milage of 25021 miles believed correct but assumed that it turned over once, and not verifiable. It is a front and rear air conditioned car and of course all the power accessories were standard or optioned. body tag shows the following: M=634; scdl=1101; ITM=397; PNT=XZZ (Ermine, top / Champagne Gold, mid & bottom); TRM=060. Accessories codes are: 41= A/C trunk instl.; 42=A/C Deluxe Dual; 467= Solex tinted glass; 341= undercoating; 394= rear window defogger.
The condition is GOOD. There is minimal surface rust. The car is so completely covered in West Texas dust that it protected it from getting too much rust. It is in everything Including the trunk (see photo). Seats had after market seat covers so seats under would make very good patterns for replacement to original or perhaps can be saved. The car needs a new headliner material. With seats and headliner completed. and a through mechanical overhaul, stop rust and paint, the car could be put back on the road. Definition of mechanical overhaul: Major engine service; major transmission service; major brake service and component rebuild; A/C Service; All fluid replacement including differential/Axle major service. Also needs 5 new tires. I would not do or recommend a body off restoration. The car is very straight and unmolested. I have the original 1958 Texas title which is signed over and a bill of sale.
About photos; I have a lot and can only put 10 in this ad so send me an email with your request for photos at: www.retromobilia@comcast.net
The car speaks for itself and the photos look worse than the car for a change. I was planing on a body on restoration and bought this 1958 Imperial southampton from which I wanted to salvage the front and rear air conditioning for the 57 car I also wanted to restore. This 58 is mostly identical to the 57 but not as nice a body and interior came from 30 years in Ft Worth, TX carport. The 57 is also being sold in a separate e-bay listing. Could make a deal for both cars if desired.
I decided not to go forward with the renovation at the urging of my family as I am near completion of a body off restoration on another car. Space is becoming a problem and a little rest is desired.
