The two tone paint job is in considerably good condition for original paint. Overall body is in great shape with only a handful of small dings and scratches. Chrome and stainless is all in great shape with no pitting, cracks or rust. There are some dents in the stainless on both fenders at the front and some minor dents in the trim along the front of the hood. Glass is all in good shape with only one chip very low on the windshield on the passenger side, there is minor bubbling in both vent windows. Rubber seals above the driver and passenger windows are starting to show their age all other rubber is in good shape.
Lights and blinkers are in good shape with no cracks.
Interior is in overall nice shape, headliner is not sagging and is free of tears, there are some marks around the garment hanger on the passenger side. Door panels are in nice shape but do have marks on both doors from shoes rubbing the panels. Passenger arm rest has some cracks and driver door panel shows some discoloration from elbows rubbing above the arm rest.
Seats are comfortable with plenty of cushion, no tears and only minor marks at the bottom of the rear seats from entry and exit of the car. Dash material is in good shape but has started to pull away and is wrinkling in places.
Carpet is clean but is worn almost through and completely through in places from the past 54 years of use.
Seller has included a roll of material that matches the seats.
I did notice a small amount of pitting on the stainless on the interior around the vent windows, there is also a small spot of staining in the corner where the window meets the rear deck on the passenger side.
Engine starts easily, idles quietly and smoothly. The original 283 V8 has no problems powering the car down the road. Transmission is quiet and shifts smoothly. This car is a pleasure to drive no noises from the suspension and rides just as it should.
Temperature gauge and clock appear to not be functioning. Other warning lights do come on when the ignition is turned on. Surprisingly, the radio works and tunes in the local AM stations.
Seller states that if the car isnt drive for a month or so it will smoke a bit until everything warms up and expands. During my test drive I saw no smoke. Seller also noted that the transmission will take about five minutes to warm up and shift its smoothest.
This 1960 Chevrolet Impala is in amazing original condition. I was stopped several times during my test drive to be told how beautiful it was. It truly drives as well as it looks and I hope the next owner enjoys it as much as the current owner has for the past 50 years.
