Classic Pininfarina styling and California condition reveals a top-down beauty.
Low original 85,358 miles and wonderful care during her 42 years has this little Italian carrozzeria showing class in our modern car era. Brought to California many years back, she was to provide transportation for a second home and was garaged when not in use. An inheritance and subsequent sale brought her to Manteca, CA last year. She has a clean and clear title in the Owner’s name.
Root beer brown, her exterior paint shows fine and shiny, with just a few road rashes. No overspray or signs or respray are detected by the independent inspector. Her brightwork shows very, very nice. Factory rims keep her in the category of clean and simple. Her convertible top appears to be in good condition and her operation is reported as stiff but functioning proper.
True to fine Italian finishes, the interior is tan leather and reported to be in excellent condition. All gauges and climate controls function proper; however, the radio is reported as inoperable. Wipers, lighting, and window functions also work as designed. The rich wood-styled dash and accents really set this car royally and balance the lighter colored interior with the metallic brown exterior.
Original, stock and with reported low mileage she powers our little convertible with perky performance. A 2.0 litre 4 cylinder powerplant provides power through a 5 speed manual transmission. Fiat stepped up their game by providing 4-wheel independent suspension, live rear axle, and four-wheel disc brakes. Our little beauty is reported to drive and perform most excellently. Unfortunately, records of maintenance and past work performed are not available.
Our independent and thorough inspection was performed by Lemon Squad. Overall, the Italian roadster was found to be in very good to excellent condition. Cosmetic flaws were found in the reported original paint, typical and not extensive. Her upholstery has only light wear and no major flaws. Mechanically there was a potential oil leak under the engine and the bay was just simply dirty. An engine bay detail is in order. Her test drive showed her spirit and years of care……performing flawlessly.
What we have here is an affordable sports car designed for the masses and at a price point within the reach of the new to convertible cruising crowd. Finding a little gem that is rust-free and well cared for is just icing on the cake. While Fiats have a bit of a reputation for questionable reliability, each individual car should be thoroughly reviewed and given a chance to stand on their own merit. And this sweet carriage indeed stands proud.
