2000 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe
Since it's inception in 1997, the C5 Corvette had proved to the world that it was not only a serious contender on the street, but on the racetrack as well. The arrival of the new century and the new millennium did nothing to deter that opinion. While the 2000 C5 Corvette underwent little physical modification from that of it's predecessor, it did receive some limited design changes as well as some unique enhancements that continued to perpetuate the car's popularity both on the track and at the dealership.
Now showing is a 2000 Chevrolet Corvette C5 model with a gaggle of performance upgrades. Most important a Cartech built LS2 V8, Carbon fiber hood, HID headlamps, RPM level VI transmission, and a 5-point bolt in roll bar just to name a few. Read ON! Rock ON!
Premiering in pewter fiberglass which does not have a straight line in sight on this sculpted body to cut through the air like a hot knife through butter, panels are all in excellent condition. A Motor City Mold Carbon fiber hood is now on the front, as are PIAA 1000X driving/fog lights. HID headlights are hidden within the smooth front of this car. On top is a factory clear top and it sports a sunshade. A rounded rear greenhouse glass works its way down to the rear of the car, where we see the iconic oval taillights and a foursome of oval tailpipes peeking out from the center on the bottom. Noted all lights have been shaded with a dark covering giving this car an even more menacing look. All four corners have beautifully polished snowflake style aluminum wheels wrapped by low profile rubber.
A swing of the doors, and we are now in black and saddle (tan) leather heaven. More sculpted lines for the door panels, and two tone high back embroidered seats. These are surrounded by a 5-point bolt in roll bar, and float in nice clean tan carpet. Fronting the seats is an analog dash readout for the instrumentation, and a matching two tone Carvaggio steering wheel. A carbon fiber central console houses the climate controls, and a Pioneer Elite stereo, and in the back of the seats is a full on concert hall with Alpine professional dual amps to pump up the volume as you pump up the engine.
A flip forward of the carbon fiber hood, and we can see the heart of this car in the form of a Cartech built LS2 V8. All nice and shiny, and well maintained. On back is an RPM Level VI transmission complete with an SFI flywheel and billet cove coupler. The rear is a 3.90 ratio.
All clean and green (well black actually) underneath with plenty of lightweight aluminum throughout, and solid structure. Up front are QA1 adjustable shocks, and consigner states a new Racetronics fuel pump to keep the hungry mill fed with fossils. 4-wheel disc brakes and some ground effects panels are all buttoned up underneath.
It's always a pleasure to slip into a Corvette, as I've never owned one, but thanks to Classic Auto Mall Driven nearly all of them. Each one is unique, and this one did not disappoint. Has great handling, quick acceleration, and was a smooth shifter. The Stereo was kick ass, as was the overall experience.
Amazingly with all the Corvettes we have on hand here in our hallowed halls, this is our first and only 2000 Corvette! It puts on beautiful performance, and that is just in our showroom. Nice paint, blackened lights, a see through top, and the Cartech built LS2, definitely a highlight on the "Vette" front. Bringing in the new Millennium in style, and still has it going for it, 20 years later.
