1999 SVT Mustang Cobra
A freshened body design was introduced for 1999, complete with sharper angles that better recalled the styling of the original Mustang. The big news for the 1999 SVT Mustang Cobra was a 15-horsepower performance gain, thanks to the use of new "tumble port" cylinder heads for better air flow and a coil-on-plug ignition system. Also new was a unique independent rear suspension (IRS) system, along with a move to 13-inch Brembo disc brakes, ABS and standard all-speed traction control. Leather seating surfaces also became standard, available in either Medium Parchment or Dark Charcoal. A new exterior color option, Electric Green Clearcoat Metallic, was included in the changes for 1999.
