In the history of the autoverse, the name Shelby has authored equal parts admiration, fear, and respect among enthusiasts across time. Though it disappeared for almost four decades, it stormed back with a vengeance when the GT500 was resurrected for its second generation in 2007. Then, 2010 saw the model\'s third generation begin, and this 2012 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 comes to us as a stellar example of just how lethal this snake can be. Owned since new, the current owner has put just 58,594 miles on the odometer. Originally used as a daily driver, this Race Red Shelby got upgraded in 2013 in just about every way possible.
The factory aluminum hood comes complete with an air extractor. Underneath, we find a massive hand-built 5.4-liter supercharged DOHC V-8 enhanced by Ford\'s GT500 FRPP Supercharger Upgrade kit, a set of Kooks headers, and a catted X-pipe. With approximately 650 rear-wheel horsepower, this GT500 can embarrass almost anything else on the road. That massive power is routed through a Tremec six-speed manual transmission modified with a new Ford clutch with less than 1,000 miles of use. A Dynotech aluminum drive shaft protected by a safety loop transfers power out to an FRPP 4.10 geared rear end. A custom set of 20-inch wheels crafted by True Forged are shod in a set of Nitto 555 rubber measuring 265/35ZR-20 up front and 305/35ZR-20 out back.
