2001 Panoz Esperante Roadster One owner from new with less than 4,000 miles!American rear-drive, two-seat roadsterFord's 4.6L DOHC, 32-valve Modular aluminum V-8 engine with sequential fuel injection and dual rear exhaust Tremec T-45 five-speed manual transmission and a 3.27 limited-slip rear end Silver exterior with black power-folding canvas top and tan leather interior Air-conditioning, power rack-and-pinion steering, power four-wheel, ventilated disc brakes, cruise control, power windows and power locks Dual front airbags, traction control, stability control and anti-lock brakes Center-mounted gauges Looking for a BMW Z3 or Z4 but can't find one near you or does the mere idea turn you off? How about this Panoz Esperante Roadster instead? Made in Braselton, Georgia in April 2001, this example is dressed in Silver with a black, power-folding canvas top. The car's paint and trim are in overall excellent order, the bodywork is straight and solid and the body-colored bumpers fit tightly to the rest of the car. The engine bay is tidy. Panoz vehicles of this era were made of hand-assembled, lightweight SPF aluminum over a hand-built, modular extruded aluminum chassis, bolted and bonded to steel subframes. This car rolls on Goodyear Eagle F1 radials, size 255/45ZR17 at every corner. Each tire is mounted to a BBS multi-spoke aluminum wheel. The wheels and tires are all in very good condition. The Panoz uses the Ford Mustang Cobra's independent rear suspension. Other parts borrowed from the Mustang include the steering rack, the ABS brakes and sections of the floorpan and firewall. Under the hood is a 4.6L, DOHC, 32-valve Modular aluminum V-8 engine with sequential fuel injection and dual rear exhaust. The engine has distributor-less, coil-on-plug ignition and a 9.8:1 compression ratio. The motor is backed by a Tremec T-45 five-speed manual transmission and a 3.27:1 limited-slip differential. Driver conveniences features include air-conditioning, power rack-and-pinion steering (15:1 ratio and 2.5 turns lock-to-lock), power four-wheel ventilated disc brakes (13 inches in front and 11.7 inches in rear), cruise control, power windows and power locks. Safety equipment includes dual front air bags, traction control, stability control and anti-lock brakes. Inside, the tan leather cockpit has bucket seats that are in excellent shape with contrasting brown carpet that is in very good order. A three-spoke steering wheel faces the driver while the inner door panels and dashboard are in very good order. As was a minor fad at that time, the Panoz has a center-mounted gauge pod, similar to Mini Coopers, Plymouth's Prowler, Scion's xA, Toyota's Echo and Saturn's Ion. The center console and console-mounted shift lever echo the rest of the interior's condition and an aftermarket AM/FM stereo with CD player complete the interior. Competition to this Panoz in 2001 included Acura's NSX Targa, Aston Martin's DB7 Vantage Volante, BMW's Z3 and new-for-2002 Z4, Chevrolet's Corvette Convertible and Porsche's 911 Carrera 4 Cabrio. If you desire a modern convertible that is on the verge of attaining traditional classic status and doesn't carry a roundel logo, this Panoz is worthy of your attention.
