Exterior
Ford calls this Torch Red and they spruce it up with wide white Shelby stripes over the hood, decklid, and wing. Shelby\'s name appears in a distinctive font on the rear decklid and also embedded in the third brake light, while the Cobra snake makes numerous appearances beginning on the mock gas cap, front fenders, and grille. A triple stripe on the lower panel takes in \"GT500\" while three part tail lights sit flush with the rear panel and over a smooth red bumper cover that serves as the final platform for the Shelby stripes and gives way to a rear splitter. Hood vents, a rear spoiler, and 18-inch wheels round out the performance package with 40 series ZR rated tires that have a mid 2024 date code. The black canvas top is in great shape and so is the body and paint. Imperfections noted include some deglazing and curb rash on the wheels, a random chip in the paint, gravel chips on the front quarter, and typical scrapes to the front air dam.
Interior
The perforated door inserts of this generation Mustang are well known for coming loose, the glue wearing out over time, and the high performance GT500 is not spared this process as there is evidence on the driver\'s side. Otherwise, the clean black doors with red inserts present nicely. The front buckets are Charcoal Black leather with pleated red inserts supported by semi robust side supports and these, along with the rear 2+2, are in great condition, as you would expect. An airbag fits in a badged circle in the center of the steering wheel which is wrapped in leather and stitched with red. Ahead of you, the straight forward gauge package with red needles that light up and the SVT acronym accenting the tachometer. The center stack begins with a badge, an authentic looking Shelby signature and the VIN of the car itself, followed by a Shaker 500 AM/FM/6 CD radio and standard A/C knobs. That red stitching from the wheel makes its way to the boot of the stout shifter in the center console while black carpet below is protected by GT500 mats. In back, the trunk is finished in gray panels and like the rest of the interior spaces, is just about showroom fresh.
Drivetrain
We lift the hood to find a clean insulator around the functional heat ducts, opening up to the always impressive supercharger above the 5.4 liter DOHC V8 and just like the advertising on the side of the car reads, 500 horsepower is produced by this mill. It\'s mated to a T56 6-speed manual transmission that routes the stampede to the Ford 8.8\" rear with 3.31 gears and TracLoc. The bay presents cleanly and even includes factory grease pencil marks.
Undercarriage
The underside presents in more driver quality showing evidence of the 25,000 miles it\'s accumulated. As such, we have some surface rust and oxidation but otherwise clean and dry conditions. Dual exhaust flows through original equipment mufflers and meets the atmosphere through substantial polished tips. Power disc brakes all around include Brembos up front and suspension consists of Macpherson struts up front and a 3 link, coil springs and a panhard bar in back.
Drive-Ability
A comfortable interior, obvious insane power underfoot, and a classic exhaust note highlight a lap around the test loop that results in check marks top to bottom, meaning everything on board operates as intended and this low mileage Cobra is only missing one thing; a new owner!
